Trait-Based Model of Transformation

A Revolutionary Approach to Addiction Treatment and Recovery
The Trait Based Model of Recovery is an evidence-based interactive program focusing on the traits of strength inherent in each individual. Dr. Jason Roop’s groundbreaking research revealed that individuals with Substance Use Disorder (Including Opioid Use Disorder) possessed the same personality traits as individuals in positions of high leadership. We are beyond excited for the ongoing benefits our clients will experience from this
multi-faceted, dynamic curriculum and process.
who am i?
When we brand certain aspects of ourselves as flawed, we inadvertently reinforce the belief that there are facets of our being deemed unacceptable, triggering an internal conflict. This inner turmoil spills over into our relationships, undermining our efforts to cultivate a positive self-image, as we become fixated on the notion of an irreparably flawed existence.
What we truly require is a more compassionate and nuanced understanding of ourselves and our world. This is where comprehending our inherent traits becomes invaluable in the journey towards successful recovery. Research corroborates the idea that individuals grappling with addiction often share personality and character traits with highly effective leaders.
However, these very traits are frequently misconstrued as weaknesses or flaws when, in reality, they represent the shadows of positive attributes. Embracing the entirety of our being, acknowledging, and forgiving ourselves paves the way for a recovery journey grounded in a positive and authentic self-perception. This newfound perspective allows us to envision a future self where we harness our traits in constructive and wholesome ways.
To assist you on this transformative journey, we’ve developed an assessment to help you identify and unlock the leadership traits that can form a strong foundation for your successful recovery. You’ll also gain insights into which of the 4 Heroes of the Recovery Journey align best with your strengths and shadows, offering a personalized roadmap to your healing.

The Tree of Traits offers an integrative framework for individuals to navigate their path towards emotional well-being and equilibrium. Within this framework, the 10 leadership traits can be organized to emphasize the importance of balance. Resilience, tenacity, and determination are grouped within the ‘Grit’ column, while empathy, appreciation, and motivation find their place in the ‘Grace’ column.
The primary objective is to maintain a harmonious equilibrium, avoiding the extremes of any single trait that might lead to problems or shadows. Should one ever recognize an imbalance, where their traits are being used destructively, the path back to equilibrium lies through ‘Self-Awareness,’ positioned in the central column symbolizing balance.
By cultivating self-awareness, individuals exercise emotional intelligence, paving the way for the authentic expression of their true selves. This authenticity, in turn, allows their creativity trait to shine, bringing forth moments of joy even amidst adversity. As creativity guides them, they illuminate their path with innovative solutions and fresh opportunities.”
